San Antonio Christmas
December 14-18, 2024
Day 1: It is time to get into the Christmas Spirit and anticipate the festivities in San Antonio. After lunch in the OKC area, we continue south, arriving at our hotel south of Fort Worth. (D)
Day 2: By lunch, we arrive in San Antonio to experience the El Mercado, the oldest and largest Mexican Market in the United States. This afternoon we have a local guide join us for a tour of this interesting city, including the oldest Cathedral in the country, the San Jose Mission. Later we check into the Drury Hotel which is our home for the next 2 nights. Our hotel is right on the River Walk. Every night when the sun goes down, the decorations of over 250,000 colorful holiday lights are displayed along the banks and in the tall Cypress trees. (B, L)
Day 3: This morning we start our day along the River Walk with a narrated boat ride. We learn the history and see the beautiful area that attracts so many during the holiday season. For lunch, we visit The Buckhorn Saloon & Texas Ranger Museum. The exhibits offer the public the chance to see priceless historic artifacts that span more than a century of Ranger history. This afternoon we visit the IMAX Theater to witness the amazing presentation “Alamo, The Price of Freedom.” Then we head over to the Alamo to learn about the 13 fateful days in 1836. This evening you have time to explore the River Walk with the many shops and restaurants. (B, L)
Day 4: This morning we explore the beauty and diversity of plants at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Next, we ascend the Tower of the Americas to view the beautiful city from 750 feet! The Tower was built for the World's Fair held in San Antonio. At the top, we experience a 360-degree view while enjoying our lunch. This evening our hotel is in the Dallas area. (B, L)
Day 5: What fun memories have been made over the last 5 days! Relax in our comfortable motorcoach today, as we head home. Lunch is included en route. (B, L)
